A unique place in the Call of Barcelona
The Synagogue of Barcelona is one of the oldest in Europe and one of the last to be rediscovered. Located in the Call, the old Jewish quarter of the city, this ancient synagogue is part of the rich jewish history in Barcelona and the former Jewish quarter, preserving its medieval essence and architecture.
Today, the Barcelona Synagogue can be visited to discover the culture and history of the jewish community, in a space that also functions as a museum. It offers insight into the jewish population in Barcelona and provides private experiences such as Bar Mitzvah, Bat Mitzvah, and Juppah ceremonies in a unique setting.

Location
Miguel Iaffa
Miguel Iaffa has made a significant contribution to the Synagogue of Barcelona, not only by promoting the life of the jewish community in Barcelona, but also by playing a key role in its rediscovery. After years in which the building went unnoticed as a private residence in the Call of Barcelona, Iaffa identified its true medieval origin linked to the former Jewish quarter.
Thanks to his work, the necessary research was carried out to restore this space as a fundamental part of jewish history in the city. The current jewish synagogue, which today also serves as a museum and a notable jewish temple, is the result of this recovery process. Miguel Iaffa’s work has helped revalue this site as a living symbol of Jewish heritage, integrating it into the network of historic Jewish quarters and contributing to preserving the memory of the community.
